Welcome to my Candy Catalogue! This will be a growing collection of every candy I try, along with my thoughts and ratings!
Different candies may be lumped into one entry if they seem like they're really the same thing, but otherwise they will be separated. This is completely arbitrary and based on nothing more than my feelings. The order will be chronological, with new entries at the top!
1/7 - This candy is straight-up disgusting, and I would have to be paid to eat more of it. Vile experience.
2/7 - This candy is pretty damn bad, and I would never choose to eat it, but it's not the worst of the worst.
3/7 - This candy is a bit iffy, though far from awful. I could stomach it, if I had to.
4/7 - This candy is so-so. Don't love it, don't hate it. Has room for improvement, but it isn't unpleasant.
5/7 - This candy is good. I'll eat it if offered, but the experience isn't much to write home about.
6/7 - I love this candy and get excited when it's available, though it isn't quite top-tier material.
7/7 - This candy is incredible, a phenomenal combination of taste and texture. Few to no complaints.
7/7 ★ - A special marker for my absolute favorite candies :) The best of the best!
Skittles Pop'd taste identical to regular Skittles, but they're crunchy instead of chewy. That is just a pure downgrade, but they're still tasty. Skittles candies are so good that even their misses are pretty good.
The hotel we stayed at in Barcelona gave us these. They're basically chocolate covered almonds, with some kind of coating on the outside. The coating was pretty yucky, but the chocolate inside was good. Unfortunately, I just don't like almonds in my chocolate.
I've always liked Sour Patch Kids. They're nothing super special, but they taste nice. Sour candy can be hit-or-miss, but these are a hit. Not much else to say.
Sometimes I wonder whether there's too many 7/7s on this catalogue. But what can I say? There's a lot of 7/7 candy out there. Airheads are wonderfully chewy, and have a super vibrant flavor. Always a very sweet treat :)
Yummy, but not super special. The peanut butter is good, and the texture is serviceable. I never crave these, but I enjoy them decently!
Jolly Ranchers are always tasty, but I never get excited about them. Sweet and fruity and nice when I have them, but I never think to myself "I could really go for one of these guys".
I mean... eh. It's just Hershey chocolate covered with an M&M-like coating, but with a slightly worse texture than M&M's. Not worth eating.
Same review as Lindt Gold Bunnies—it's generic milk chocolate. You can't taste the hazelnut at all, really. If you like boring milk chocolate, you'll like these, but they're really not interesting.
Starburst Jellybeans are much more "jelly bean" than "Starburst". And they're pretty good! I like more flavor variety in my jelly beans than this provides, but the flavors that are there are yummy. Standard, good jelly bean experience, even if inferior to Jelly Belly.
Happy Chicks' taste and texture are identical to Haribo Goldbears—just with a slightly different shape—and thus they are exactly as good as them.
These are just Whoppers—a very good candy— but less crunchy and with less flavor. The shape is kind of fun, I suppose, but these are pretty forgettable.
Extremely uninteresting as far as chocolate goes. They have an extremely uninteresting taste, with no interesting texture. You will like these exactly as much as you like generic milk chocolate.
These are decent peach gummies, they have a good texture, but unfortunately they just don't have much flavor. Definitely inferior to my beloved peach ring gummies.
Warheads are not that sour, but until the sour coating goes away, the flavor is pretty gross. You go in for a sourness challenge, but all you get is a really bad taste in your mouth. At least the flavor is fine once the coating is gone.
These are always a nice treat, with nice flavors and a pleasant texture, but I never desire Live Savers. They're yummy, but unremarkable, and pale in comparison to my favorites on this list.
Starbursts are an absolute classic. Excluding lemon, which is just decent, every flavor is delicious. The pink ones are the best, of course, hence the All Pink pack in this photo. Despite their great fruit flavors, these candies are a bit basic—they represent candy as a whole well, but they aren't incredibly interesting or noteworthy in of themselves.
I have memories of Sour Skittles being pretty nasty, but trying them again, they're quite decent. They're like if Skittles—a 7/7 candy—were just a bit worse. The texture isn't fun, but the classic Skittles flavor is there.
My friends say these are mid; I think they are swell. Chocolate and pretzels mix super well, and the crunch is just perfect. I was so excited when my local grocery store had these, since I rarely ever see them being sold. My favorite kind of M&M :)
M&M's have always been pleasant, but they just aren't very interesting. The chocolate flavor is fine, but it doesn't offer anything more than other chocolates. The crunchy texture of the shells (skin?) boosts it up a bit, though, and the colorfulness is welcome :)
These are the best version of sour gummy worms. Their taste is just superb, with the yummy gummy texture we all know and love!
These are tasty :) The strawberry flavor is quite nice, and the crunch is very satisfying. The strawberry flavor reminds me of strawberry Pocky. Both these and Pocky are Japanese, so I suppose that makes sense. Strange candy, but quite good!
It's hard to hate Smarties. I love the texture of the grooves on either side of each piece, and the taste and crunch are both quite pleasant.
I've always liked Nerds, particularly because the packages don't skimp out on the amount of candy they hold. They are wonderfully crunchy, with a sweet fruity flavor. I like that you can down one one of these little boxes like a shot, or just eat them a few at a time. After chewing them up, they feel nice going down my throat. These are a good candy :3
I've loved these things since I was a kid. They're fish, and they're gummies! How can you hate these sweet little fellas? Good taste, good texture, whatever, but they're FISH!! Fishies!!
These are the perfect peanut butter candies; nothing else I've tried does it better. They taste phenomenal, and they are so wonderfully crunchy. Thank you, Reese.
These things are great, always a good experience. You get crunchy and chewy at the same time, which somehow works super well. You get the classic Nerds flavor while also getting a chunk of sweet gummy—it's delicious. No complaints or flaws with Gummy Clusters!
Skittles are one of my favorite candies, and Little Skittles are—in many ways—just better Skittles. According to my friend Alex, "it's that surface-area-to-volume ratio, baby!" They're crispier! The one downside is that you can only find Littles in the original flavors, which is enough to lose the star ranking. Still a solid 7/7 though!
I doubt there's a soul alive who doesn't agree that mini M&Ms are simply superior to regular M&Ms. Make anything smaller and it'll taste better. They've got a satisfying chocolate crunch, with a decent chocolate flavor. The texture of the exterior (the skin?) is well-crafted. All the
colors taste the same, but I appreciate the colorfulness regardless. Solid experience! Shoutout to Alex for buying these <3
This candy is just a nothingburger. It has very little taste, no interesting texture, and is all-around a forgettable experience. It has no bad aspects, but nothing good either. It's kinda impressive how neutral of an experience these things are.
Milky Way is like Twix without the nice crunch—that is to say, a worse Twix. Not bad, but a Milky Way is incapable of exciting me. They're slightly better than 3 Musketeers due to the nice caramel addition, but not better enough to warrant a 5/7 score.
Snickers are an example of a peanut butter candy done right—the peanut butter enhances the experience without dominating it. I don't love these as much as other candy bars, but I'll certainly never turn one down.
Snacks with multiple flavors in one can be really great when executed correctly, and these things really hit the mark. The caramel flavor is great, and the cream adds quite a nice contrast in texture and flavor. These are really nice to bite into, and have a good aftertaste. Flawless!
Skittles are a contender for my favorite candy. They're delicious, and satisfying to bite into. The different flavors are all very unique, and very yummy. My favorite sub-brand is Wild Berry, but the originals and others are great too. They aren't messy, they're good one-by-one or in a handful, they're easy to share, easy to toss up into the air and catch in your mouth, and they have a good name. I like Skittles.
I do not understand the Milk Dud hate—these things rock. I love how chewy they are, and the chocolate/caramel flavor is really nice.
I bought these impulsively one time, just curious how they tasted, and one bite told me all I needed to know—these things are delicious. It's candy watermelon flavor perfected. Perfect texture, perfect yummy flavor, perfect candy :)
The Hershey chocolate is decent, but I don't love the peanut chunks. They cancel each other out, so middle of the road score.
These are pretty neat :) Yummy cherry flavor, and quite fun to peel and such. The texture isn't nearly as good as regular Twizzlers, though, and the sweetness can sometimes border on too much—but all things considered, they're good!
Imagine Haribo Goldbears but bigger, squishier, and with more exotic flavors, and you've got these guys. They're decent, but nothing memorable. I like them slightly less than Goldbears, I think—the taste is good, but can be a bit overpowering.
I'm a big fan of watermelon candy flavors, and this is quite a good one. Good taste, good texture, straight-up yummy. Tasty, one could even say.
Let's be honest, you aren't buying these for the eating experience. You're buying these because for the first time in your life, playing with your food is not only allowed, but encouraged. Whoever decided to invent candy LEGO bricks was a genius. The taste itself is decently good. Despite being a bit of a gimmick candy, the different colors actually have different flavors, and they're all nice. They're a bit hard to chew, so you kind of have to suck on them before biting down. Four points for taste/texture, but the creativity brings it up to five :)
Delicious. Just delicious. What else can I say? They taste amazing. I love peach-flavored candy. The taste is great, I enjoy the physical sensation of the shape, the sour texture isn't overbearing, just the perfect A+ candy.
Gummy sharks are awesome. How can you not love a candy that's shaped like a shark?! The eating experience itself is just alright—sweet but no interesting flavors, pleasant but unremarkable gummy texture—but the theme bumps it up an entire point.
These have a nice chocolatey flavor, but not as good as something like Twix. The crisped rice gives it a nice satisfying crunch. This candy isn't something to die for, but it's a pretty pleasant experience :) I think generally I prefer regular Crunch bars.
Twix is easily one of my favorite chocolate candies. It's wonderfully crispy, with a rich gooey caramel flavor. Only downside is it can gives me a stomachache sometimes :( but that isn't the candy's fault!
Kit Kats are crispiness perfected. They're always satisfying to bite down on. Sometimes it's fun to bite off the top layer of wafer before eating the rest. The taste is good, but not quite amazing. Their biggest flaw is that outside of the US, they're produced by Nestlé (yucky!!) >:(
Twizzlers are one of the most satisfying candies to bite into. It's chewy, yet you can split a piece in two with a single easy bite. Flavor aside, the physical sensation of eating these is just great. It's fun to fold them into different shapes before eating to give some variety, too. The strawberry flavor itself is also quite nice. It tastes super artificial, sure, but... this is candy. That's kinda the point. If you don't like that artificial taste, then you probably won't like most candies on this page.
Mike and Ike—especially the "Mega Mix" flavors—are delicious. They have such saturated fruity flavors, with a perfect gummy texture. I like their shape, too, and the ways you can squish them before popping one or more in your mouth. Absolutely positively swell :3
I got this bag of gummies as part of a birthday gift. They taste wonderful—a very vibrant, authentic pineapple flavor, and very pleasantly sweet. The outside texture is about the same as most sour candies (though these really are not sour), and the inside is quite soft. They're quite high quality, but not something I'm obsessed over.
These are very standard gummy bears that give a very standard gummy experience. The taste and texture are both good but not amazing. I enjoy them, but I will never think to myself "Damn, I could go for some Haribo gummy bears right now". Solid experience, but nothing Earth-shattering.
This is a very nice candy. The taste is vibrant, the texture is pleasantly chewy (similar to gum), and they're a great size and shape. The taste and texture aren't quite 7/7-material, but they're easily good enough to score a 6—I'll excitedly eat them when available, but there are candies I would easily choose over them.
Peanut butter candies are always hit-or-miss for me, and Butterfinger is a miss. It advertises itself as crunch, but I would describe its texture as "crinkly", which isn't particularly pleasant. As for flavor, the peanut butter is just too prominent. I don't mind a bit of PB flavor, but it's just too much here. The aftertaste isn't very nice either, I had to drink some water after eating this bar. It certainly isn't horrible—it wasn't like I couldn't finish this bar—but I don't see myself snacking on one again.
Laffy Taffy is a pretty simple candy—just a solid strip of chewy goodness—but it is wonderful. As a lover of chewy candy, the texture is just perfect. I enjoy the anticipation of how hard or soft any particular strip will be (I think it depends on temperature), as well as the particular shape, since each stick is unique. The flavors range in quality from very good to incredible, with banana being the best of the best.
These things taste really nice, and are quite fun to eat. They're a bit tough to chew compared to something a bit softer, but that isn't necessarily a complaint—the toughness is enjoyable in its own way. The main thing keeping these from a 7/7 is that chewing sour candy makes my teeth feel weird.
Whoppers are a contender for my favorite form of chocolate. The crunch of these things is incredibly satisfying, and there's a great taste to go along with it. The ball shape makes them fun to pop in your mouth, and as long as you're in a reasonable temperature, you won't get chocolate on your hands. Great snack :)
