How I use Anki :)
All of my Spanish flashcards use the "Basic (and reversed card)" type. This means that when you make a card, it will automatically create a second linked one with the opposite translation. E.g. if I make a card with "el perro" on one side and "dog" on the other, it will automatically add a second that has "dog" on one side and "el perro" on the other, so that both directions are worked into your practice!
I usually add and edit cards via the PC Anki app, and do my reviews on the paid iOS app. The iOS app is expensive, but its the only source of revenue for Anki, and it's entirely worth it.
Maximum reviews/day = 9999 (realistically this means that there is no cap on your daily reviews, which is for the best. It'll never actually get that high, it's just good to not artificially push them off by setting a low cap)
FSRS enabled with a desired retention of 90% (my understanding is that this is just a superior algorithm, I don't actually know in depth how it works)
"Don't play audio automatically" enabled (none of my cards have audio, but this is just a precaution. I don't want my phone to yell out "el murciélago" when I'm on the train or something)
